I am considering acne treatment for my acne scars, in the past laser treatments did not work well so now after a consultation with plastic surgeon she recommended PRP, subcision and fat transfer followed with Erbium laser after 3 months. This procedure is pretty expensive so I would like to know does it really works and are the results really visible and long lasting (longer that fillers)?
Answer: Subcision Is Tried & True & Works Well For Elevating & Smoothing Boxcar & Rolling Scars As anyone who regularly reads my answers will tell you, I am not surprised at your lack of success with prior laser treatments. Like PRP, these relatively expensive "bells and whistles" are backed far more by device manufacturer supported marketing hype than hard science. Subcision accompanied by the use of a filler ( used not to fill, but instead to enhance new collagen and elastic fiber synthesis) is relatively inexpensive and works well as a standalone procedure. If there are any residual texture or color irregularities after subcision elevates and smooths the scars, then simple microneedling may be used to help blend the treated areas with the surrounding normal skin. Be wary of claims for this or that relatively expensive "next big thing" device. Make sure that you consult with a board certified aesthetic physician. Best of luck to you.

Answer: TCA combined with microneedling and radio frequency type lasers can help even out skin texture Acne scar treatments require precision and attention to detail. There are several types of acne scars, including atrophic, hypertrophic, PIH hyperpigmented, and hypopigmented scars. Depending on the types of scars you have, our office can recommend a Hidef treatment protocol that can recontour existing scars and reduce complexion irregularities. The results are simply life-changing. As a general rule, we recommend fillers, subcision, acne surgery, RF ablation, and laser ablation to help with atrophic scars. Hypertrophic and keloid acne scars require pulsed dye laser and IIT SC. PIH scars require chemical peels, Melarase creams (AM and PM) and laser. If you have ice-pick scars, we recommend RF ablation and TCA Cross. Best, Dr. Karamanoukian Realself100 Surgeon

Answer: Acne Scarring -- Needs Combination of Subcision; Fillers Like Bellafill; Lasers Like Fraxel/Erbium/CO2; TCA Cross; Intensif RF Acne scars need a combination approach for long-term improvement. Everyone has a unique pattern of acne scarring, and most people have various types of scars, so we create a tailored treatment plan for each patient. We often use:- Injectable fillers like Bellafill and Sculptra (with or without subcision) for atrophic, indented scars. - Subcision for depressed, tethered scars. - Vascular lasers like Yellow laser, Aerolase, excel V, or IPL for redness or thick acne scars. - Lasers such as Fraxel, Erbium, CO2 or fractional radiofrequency (Venus Viva, Skinfinity, Intensif microneedling RF) for textural issues and superficial scarring. - TCA CROSS and punch excision for deep ice pick scars and narrow box car scars. All lasers are combined with microneedling/PRP to improve the results and accelerate your healing time. Keep in mind that a personalized combination treatment by an expert physician will give you the improvement you're looking for. I recommend getting a formal evaluation with an experienced cosmetic dermatologist and acne scarring expert. Best, Dr. Emer.

Answer: Acne scars on cheeks? Englewood Cliffs New Jersey In my opinion, you have predominantly saucer shaped and box car shaped scars. Subcision should be helpful. This can be performed with PRP, fillers or microfat injection. We prefer PRP because of the permanent nature of the results. Follow up treatment of the area with a low density ablative laser is suggested. Find an acne scar expert.Jeff Rapaport MD FAADRealself Verified All-star
