What noises should you expect to hear during subcision to know it is working well? Is there a distinct noise or is any noise a positive sign? Are the noises heard all scar tissue or is there normal tissue as well? The last time I did it basically heard scratching noises the whole time. Does this mean it was working well and I am a good candidate for subcision?
Answer: During subcision you should hear a pooping sound. That is the fibers being released. Our office has many different treatments for scars depending on the depth of atrophy or hypertrophy. Subcision and TCA cross are also used for deep ice pick scars and narrow valley scars in order to improve the micro texture. Answer: What noise should you hear during subcision You can often hear the scars being released during subcision. This is normal and no cause for concern. I tend to do most of my subcision treatments using a blunt cannula which is a more gentle treatment with less bruising or recovery.Regards,Dr. Ort

Be guided by your dermatologist - plastic surgeon. The ideal treatment for acne scars will depend on the morphology of individual scars. For example, rolling scars are best treated with subcision, atrophic scars with fillers, pick-ice pick scars with TCA or Phenol CROSS/ Paint, box-scar scars with fractional laser/ modified TCA/ phenol chemical peels, hypertrophic scars with steroid injections/modulated fractional delivery.
