What does "SculpSure treatment with 2 plates" mean?

Hi, I'm looking at a promotion from a medical spa for SculpSure and they are advertising one treatment with 2 plates. I thought plates was specifically for Coolsculpt and not SculpSure. Are 2 plates enough? Thanks!

Most people refer to SculpSure being performed with applicators rather than plates.  Two applicators could possible treat a small area on the abdomen or perhaps one flank.  I would say 4 applicators are commonly needed to treat the abdomen and sometimes 2 applicators can be used to treat one flank.  It would be unusual that using only 2 applicators would give a complete treatment.

This refers to applicators. Keep in mind, with Sculpsure, a combination of treatments is needed to get good results. I recommend combining Sculpsure with Vanquish and Venus Legacy/Exilis Ultra treatments. We currently use a fire and ice treatment with Coolsculpting and Vanquish for good results in fat removal. However, a VASER hi definition procedure would give you the best results with fat removal, contouring and definition. See an expert for a formal evaluation. Best, Dr. Emer

Thank you for your question! The promotion is referring to the frames we use to apply the laser treatment to your body. A treatment with only 2 frames would have to be a very small area&mdash;I normally use only 2 frames when I am doing a treatment on the "submental" (under the chin) area. The majority of treatments I do involve 4 frames.

I would be a bit leery of this "special". It sounds like they are just trying to get you in the door, to upsell you later. SculpSure is a wonderful non-invasive laser treatment to reduce small, diet and exercise resistant areas of fat. One of its great features is that it has 4 separate handpieces, or applicators, which is what they are referring to as plates, which allow for treatment to be very customized to a patient's body. However, it is rare that an area of fat can be adequately treated with only 2 applicators - or just one if the area is a symmetric body area, such as arms or flanks. Almost universally, we use all 4 applicators with each treatment. Further, since one can only expect, at best, a 20-24% reduction in the volume of fat in a given area, we almost always recommend at least 2 sessions done per area, performed about 6-8 weeks apart. You should not purchase anything until you have had an adequate consultation with an experienced specialist, who can recommend a specific, complete treatment plan to address your goals.

This sounds like they could be talking about how many applicators to be used. Each applicator is about the size of an iPhone, so depending on the area, depends on how many applicators you would need. In my experience, typically four applicators is needed.

Hello Stasia177,Plates are meaning applicators. You will need to be seen to determine how many applicators are needed to the area you are wanting to treat. It is very important to not under treat an area. You will not see the desired results if the area is under treated. I would recommend going in for a consultation to determine if you are a candidate for SculpSure and how many applicators are needed per area. Hope this helps,

Terminology with SculpSure can be a bit confusing.  I would assume that 2 plates means 2 applicators.  With SculpSure, there are 4 applicators that can be used all at once.  I have found that with patients who are good candidates for SculpSure, you can always use all 4 applicators for each treatment.  However, they don't have to all be used in the same area.  For example, some people will only need 2 applicators on each flank but both sides would be treated at the same time so all 4 applicators will be used.  I have found that treating each area two to three times with treatments spaced a few weeks apart gives the best results.  I would highly recommend getting a couple of consults with qualified practitioners and compare the treatment plans that they come up with.  I don't think you will be satisfied with the results from a single treatment of 2 applicators.

He will not know how many plates are needed until you have an appropriate consultation. This can be with any qualified provider of Sculpsure. it does not need to be a plastic surgeon. However if your BMI is greater than 30 you may need a plastic surgery alternative. Costs are related to how many plates are used. Expect at least two treatments per area for proper effect.The plan that is created for your treatment may be different depending on the qualities of your provider.

It sounds like a promotion to get people in the door for SculpSure.  Most treatment areas include 4 frames as we call them with SculpSure.  Also we include both sessions 6 weeks apart in our SculpSure pricing so be sure and ask if the promotional price includes the second treatment.  If not the price may not be as great as it sounds.
