Hi, I'm looking at a promotion from a medical spa for SculpSure and they are advertising one treatment with 2 plates. I thought plates was specifically for Coolsculpt and not SculpSure. Are 2 plates enough? Thanks!
Answer: SculpSure treatment with 2 "plates" Most people refer to SculpSure being performed with applicators rather than plates. Two applicators could possible treat a small area on the abdomen or perhaps one flank. I would say 4 applicators are commonly needed to treat the abdomen and sometimes 2 applicators can be used to treat one flank. It would be unusual that using only 2 applicators would give a complete treatment.

Answer: Sculpsure Candidate--Add Vanquish, Venus Legacy, Exilis Ultra, VASER This refers to applicators. Keep in mind, with Sculpsure, a combination of treatments is needed to get good results. I recommend combining Sculpsure with Vanquish and Venus Legacy/Exilis Ultra treatments. We currently use a fire and ice treatment with Coolsculpting and Vanquish for good results in fat removal. However, a VASER hi definition procedure would give you the best results with fat removal, contouring and definition. See an expert for a formal evaluation. Best, Dr. Emer

A treatment with only 2 frames would have to be a very small area—I normally use only 2 frames when I am doing a treatment on the "submental" (under the chin) area. The majority of treatments I do involve 4 frames.

Answer: What does "SculpSure treatment with 2 plates" mean? I would be a bit leery of this "special". It sounds like they are just trying to get you in the door, to upsell you later. SculpSure is a wonderful non-invasive laser treatment to reduce small, diet and exercise resistant areas of fat. One of its great features is that it has 4 separate handpieces, or applicators, which is what they are referring to as plates, which allow for treatment to be very customized to a patient's body. However, it is rare that an area of fat can be adequately treated with only 2 applicators - or just one if the area is a symmetric body area, such as arms or flanks. Almost universally, we use all 4 applicators with each treatment. Further, since one can only expect, at best, a 20-24% reduction in the volume of fat in a given area, we almost always recommend at least 2 sessions done per area, performed about 6-8 weeks apart. You should not purchase anything until you have had an adequate consultation with an experienced specialist, who can recommend a specific, complete treatment plan to address your goals.
