Thank you for your question. The concern with birth control pills (BCP) and surgery is the increased risk of deep venous thrombosis (DVT), or blood clots in your legs. BCP increase this risk, which is especially important in tummy tucks where there are periods on immobility after surgery. The risk of DVT in breast augmentation is relatively low, and I do not recommend stopping any form of birth control, including Mirena. I would suggest discussing this further with your plastic surgeon prior to surgery.Best of luck with your breast augmentation.Jeff Rockmore
is not a contraindication in my practice as the risks are extremely low due to rapid mobility augmentation patients experience. I personally do not require cessation of any birth control and have not had any problems in 20+ years of practice but every patient has a sequential compression device placed at surgery.
I do not require patients to start birth-control methods prior to breast augmentation surgery. Theoretically, there's a higher risk of developing blood clots which is minimally increased after breast augmentation surgery and has never affected any of my breast augmentation patients after performing over 1000 procedures.
Mirena is a hormonal intrauterine device. I do not require my patients to have this device removed prior to undergoing a Breast Augmentation
the risk of dvt is low with breast augmentation, and i would not decline surgery under these circumstances. while it is necessary to stop many meds and most herbals, there are certainly other prescriptions that need to be continued through surgery. your surgeon would certainly discuss this in detail at the time of your consultation.
Thank you for your question. Overall, your breasts should not get "squishy and move around". When the implants are inserted, a precise pocket is created so there is no significant extra room for the implant to move around. The skin will likely stretch out a bit, but should not...
It is more or less one pound. You can try filling a baggy with a lb of rice and wearing it in your bra to see how it feels. However please note that this won't give you an idea of size, as the rice will look bigger than an implant.
Based on your before and after photos, I do think 350 was a good size selection. Your implants are high, but should settle over the next few months.Go see your surgeon, share your concerns... I am sure he/she will reassure you.
Hi. Thanks for your question. 600 cc high profile implants may look too large for you; 475 should give you good volume based in your pictures. Of course, a formal virtual or in-person consultation would be required to determine your ideal procedure. Augmentation patients do need...
