I am scheduled for my breast augmentation on May 19th. I had blood test for medical clearance and the results came back with high white blood cell count and high potassium. My doctor put me on antibiotics and she is going to retest me on Monday. My doctor indicated that the test results are showing that I have some kind of infection in my body. I don’t have any symptoms of being sick at all. Is this something that happens often? I am confused! Will they reschedule my surgery?

Answer: Preoperative protocol Dear pfougeron, every plastic surgeon has his own preoperative protocol which he recommends to his patients. You should be healthy and have no infections prior to any elective procedure. I would suggest you to discuss this with your plastic surgeon. Answer: Will they reschedule my surgery after medical clearance test before surgery? Thank you for sharing your question and I am sorry that you are going through this. It seems as if your surgeon is treating you appropriately but without knowing the full details of your laboratory results it is difficult to comment. I would work closely with your surgeon to address any medical concerns first and then pursue your augmentation.
