Pre opp I was 32aa breast fed 2 kids 40yrs old 5.6",114lb chest width 11.5cm ,height . My PS recommended 245cc Medium height moderate projection implants ,4cm projection. I'm now only a cup B, wanted to be a C.The other option was medium height moderate plus 295CC implants projection of 4.9cm.Is there any chance I can expect to grow bigger? I look alot bigger in pictures than I really am. Should I have gone for the 295cc moderate plus option ? Will I go smaller as the implants settle ?
Answer: Two small after breast augmentation surgery… Congratulations on having undergone the breast augmentation procedure. Keep in mind that no one will replace your own plastic surgeon when it comes to accurate assessment, advice, and meaningful reassurance. You should be aware that a significant percentage of patients at your stage of recovery will feel that they are too big or (more commonly) too small. I routinely ask my patients to wait at least 3-6 months before evaluating the end results of the breast augmentation surgery. This waiting time allows patients to (usually) physically and psychologically adapt to the new body image. Generally speaking, breast implants will "drop" into the pocket that was created during surgery. The rate of breast implant "settling" may depend on factors such as size of breast implant pocket dissected, tightness of the overlying skin/muscle layers, and size of breast implant utilized. Normally, it takes about 3-6 months (for some patients longer) to see the final result. Similarly, it takes a few months for the breasts to "soften" in most cases. Most of my patients tell me that their breast implants feel "part of them" somewhere between 3 to 6 months after surgery was performed. Many of my patients report that as the swelling around the breast implants (for example, in the sternal area) decreases, they feel that their breasts appear more projecting. Patients often report that they are happier with the cleavage area once these changes occur also. Also, in my opinion, the "drop and fluff” phenomenon does hold some validity; as breast implants “settle”, many patients feel that their breasts actually look larger. There is definitely a physiologic and "psychological" (body image) adaptation process that occurs, at differing rates for every patient, for patients who undergo any type of aesthetic surgery, including breast augmentation surgery. I would suggest continued patience and continued close follow-up with your plastic surgeon. Best wishes for an outcome that you will be pleased with long-term.

Answer: Breast Implant Selection Hi inquisitivemeYou may lose a little bit of volume as the last of your swelling goes away in the next few months.Your implant selection is based primarily on dimensions of your chest (unless you want them to spill out over the side of your chest), and then matching up the projection (thickness) of the implant to the look that you are after. In those photos, it does look like you could have gone to a moderate plus implant fairly easily, maybe even a high projection implant. Bear in mind that increasing the projection of the implant increases the post-operative discomfort and other implant related risks.I would return to your surgeon and discuss your concerns.Good LuckDr Gavin Sandercoe
