Multiple superficial/medium chemical peels vs one deep peel for aged, wrinkled, sun damaged skin?

In our office, we advocate multiple chemical peels for superficial aging as opposed to a deeper peel for acne scars. Chemical peels work well. In addition, Ematrix is a great option for acne scars in our office. Best, Dr. Karamanoukian Los Angeles

I don't believe that multiple superficial peels add up to a deep peel.  The reason is that if the damage, wrinkle or pigmentation is in the dermis (deeper skin) then simply removing the epidermis (superficial skin) repeatedly  will not address the issue.  I get the best results for deep wrinkles with full field laser resurfacing.  Patients will have a one week recovery with a bit of pink skin for a few weeks. The rsults are fantastic.  The procedure is very safe and controlled and the results are long lasting with usually just one treatment. I find laser resurfacing safer and more consistenly better results compared to peels.
