Why has my laser blistered? Is it supposed to be this painful? My doctor told me I would feel no pain, there would be no scabbing. When I phoned the practise nurse for advice, she said I could not put anything on it and only Panafon eill hel. It is now infected

Hi and thanks.  This result is typical when short "pulse widths" are used (i.e. less than 3ms).  We use these settings on purpose when we treat birth marks like port-wine stains - and less often when treating cosmetic concerns.  I don't know your health history, so I can't comment.  If pulse widths less than 3ms are used, you are guaranteed to have about a week's worth of dark spots that become crusted scabs.Wound care is really important when you use "purpuric settings" like you see here.  I can't comment on if this is infected on not based on photos.  I have seen skin infections (both viral and bacterial) after "purpuric settings" are used, but it's rare.  I strongly suggest you show up at your doctor's office and ask to see the physician for a wound-check.  If your doctor wasn't a board-certified dermatologist, I suggest you seek consultation as well ASAP.
