Q1 Botox never worked in the past had 30 units for frown line twice no outcome. Had 50 units Dysport- fantastic result 3 days later but for only 4 weeks then started to wear off, do I need bigger amount of Dysport next time to last longer.? how much? Q2 had 10 units today to try and trick it into working , To reactivate, even though the dr didn't think it woukd do anything I wanted to try, will it reactivate it? The dr says I must have a metabolism that chews through and expels the product.
Answer: Q1 Has all this treatment been done by the same doctor? I have been injecting patients with cosmetic botulinum toxin for over twenty years. I have never seen a patient who does not respond. The problem is that some clinics don't always provide the service they claim. Botox is expensive and saline is much less expensive. Not saying this is what you doc is doing but some clinics deliver much less product than they claim to boost product under the assumption that patients can't tell the difference. Q2 Are you getting care at a clinic where no pictures are taken. If so, it is very hard to document the effectiveness of the treatment. Legitimate practitioners take before and after photographs even of their botulinum toxin patients. Without these how can you know what effect you are having or not having?10 units of Dysport is approximately equivalent to 3 units of BOTOX. This amount is so small, one would not expect this to have much of any effect. To give you an idea, a typical Botox treatment might be 33 units of BOTOX. An equivalent Dysport dose would be approximately 90-100 units of Dysport.I think it is time to shop for a new botulinum toxin injector.

Answer: Botox not working well, will Dysport be better? How much? Q1 answer: Dysport tends to give a wider area of effect than "Botox A" by Allergan or Merz ("Xeomin"), but you have to give approximately 3x as much Dysport as the botox A types. Sometimes escalating the dose will increase the effect and longevity. 50 units of Dysport between the eyebrows isn't a very large dose. It sounds like you need to start with at least 60 units, but without an in-person exam of your facial anatomy it is impossible to say with certainty. Q2 answer: 10 extra units of Dysport is a very small amount to give. This would only be effective if a single injection site didn't receive any improvement otherwise it is a very small amount. I am not familiar with giving more botulinum toxin to "activate" an effect. The toxin effect happens over a quick period of time, and it generally takes 3 months or more for the neuromuscular toxin effect to wear off. It is possible your neuromuscular junctions heal quicker than most. You might could try taking zytaze prior to your next injections, which is an over-the-counter Zinc and Phytase supplement that can improve botulinum toxin effects. Let your doctor know if you decide to take it as sometimes the improved effect can be too much and some patients need to be dosed downward.
