I want to do Dysport all over my face to make my chubby face more narrow. Is it safe?
Answer: Botulinum toxins for facial shaping Neuromodulators like Dysport, Botox, and Xeomin do have a role and facial shaping, but only specifically targeting the masseter muscle (one of the muscles used for chewing). This is a very specific use, and is not right for everybody. To boot, it will not reshape your entire face, only a specific portion.Using a neuromodulator to shrink a "chubby" face is a bad idea.Seek consultation with a dermatologic surgeon, oculoplastic surgeon, facial plastic surgery or plastic surgeon who is board certified and fellowship trained in one of these core four cosmetic specialties. They can help point you in the right direction to meet your goals.

CONTACT NOW Answer: Botox and Dysport for jaw slimming Thank you for your question. Botox or Dysport can be a very effective way to contour the jaw line by reducing the masseter shadow through the outer jaw skin. In addition, it can reduce symptoms of jaw clenching or grinding of teeth at night time. This is an advanced technique that requires a strong understanding of the underlying anatomy. Some side effects can results in some very unintented effects. This can include affecting the smile due to diffusion of the Botox into neighboring smile muscles. Over treatment can also overweaken your jaw muscles making it harder to chew food and causes your jaw muscles to relax too much when you sleep. The injection technique does vary by physical exam and the goals of the treatment. Facial contouring goals may change the injection sites themselves to affect different portions of the masseter as well as the dose. The strength of the masseters can be felt by palpation and also helps me to determine dosing. In general, I start with 15- 25 units of Botox (OR 50-75 units of Dysport) per side for most patients. If they have very strong masseters, then I may increase the dose, but more commonly ask them to return in three weeks for a touch up. Once you get the desired result, I let patients know that future treatments may require less to maintain the look or the jaw clenching symptoms, especially if they get treated as soon as they notice the symptoms return. This can be as soon as three to four months, but in some cases, patients report that it lasts six months or more. I find it depends on the dose we use and how many times we have done the procedure as the duration may lengthen for patients that repeat it regularly.

Answer: I want to do Dysport all over my face to make my chubby face narrow. Is it safe? Dysport/ Botox/ Xeomin are used to soften muscle movement, subtly shape the eye or mouth area as well as slim the jaw muscle along the lower part of the face. The only role that these products play in facial slimming is in reducing the hypertrophic masseter muscle which isn't appropriate for every one and in properly selected patients only works to slim the lower 1/3 of the face. The product is not useful elsewhere for slimming and can result in complications if used improperly. I hope this information is helpful for you.Stephen Weber MD, FACSDenver Facial Plastic Surgeon

Answer: Enthusiasm duly noted. But no, this is seriously a bad idea. Dysport, like the other commercially available botulinum toxin products is a neuromodulator that works by weaking muscles. Properly targeted, it is a great product with immense popularity. Used improperly, all of the agents can produce very unpleasant side effects. So while your goal of improving everything about your face is understandable, what you propose will not accomplish your goal. I recommend finding a cosmetic surgeon/physician with excellent training and having a formal consultation to learn what services will make the most sense for you. Look for a physician or surgeon in the core aesthetic specialities: Dermatology, Oculoplastic surgery, facial plastic surgery, and general plastic surgery.

Answer: Can I do Dysport to my whole face to make it more narrow Absolutely do not do this, and if you find someone who is willing to do it, run away. Neuromodulators are used to make muscles stop contracting. Putting it into your cheeks will mean that you cannot move your central face, which means you can't smile or move your mouth properly. You can have targeted areas of treatment, like your jawline, forehead, crow's feet, etc. But no, you should absolutely not try to use any neuromodulator on your full facial muscles, or I promise you won't be able to talk, smile, eat, or look normal at all. "This answer has been solicited without seeing this patient and cannot be held as true medical advice, but only opinion.
