Question

I am only 19 but my eyebrows are very straight and low, making me look angry/frowning. Am I a candidate for an eyebrow lift?

I would recommend Botox first to give an idea of what is possible.  Mainly, I would do this to determine if you really feel a browlift would suit you.  A browlift could be considered after that.

Many people think low set brows are attractive. You are very young for a brow lift, but should first see a board certified plastic surgeon for an evaluation. You might like the effects of Botox as a non-surgical alternative. Good luck to you.

The anatomy of the human face is quite variable, and what may "fit" your face, may not be right for somebody else's. In addition, as you've no wonder heard many times, "beauty is in the eye of the beholder", meaning that there is a certain subjectivity to it.

	In general, a slightly higher arch is preferred on a woman, so it is possible to elevate your brows to achieve this look. An in person consultation is necessary to determine the best technique of browlift for you.

It really depends on your individual circumstances and what your goals are with the surgery. Many times, patients feel that a low brow can make them look tired or angry, and they wish to rejuvenate their look. In general, issues with the brow can be independent of age, and can be genetic. From here, I would recommend a consult with an experienced surgeon who uses computer imaging software. He/she may morph your photo and give you an idea of how the final result of surgery may appear. There is no set age for cosmetic surgery. If you have cosmetic concerns, your physician would perform an in depth pre-operative evaluation to determine if you are a candidate with options being presented to you at that time. A full cosmetic consultation with your oculoplastic/facial cosmetic surgeon in your area will better determine if your expectations can be met.

There is no age requirement to be a candidate for brow lift surgery. Brow lift surgery is typically performed to elevate the aged brows to offer a more youthful and refreshed appearance.

	Although your brows may be lower on your forehead/closer to your eyelids than others your age, it does not make you look old or tired. I would be cautious about getting a brow lift at this stage for you as you probably will not like the appearance afterwards and may look unnatural.

It is not rare for young ladies to inherit low eyebrows; I have done brow lifts on many patients like you. All you have to do is stand in front of the mirror, lift your brows and see if you like the results. Be sure to consider your hairline position because many brow lift techniques will raise the hairline. Consider the Irregular Trichophytic Hairline Incision that we described many years ago `which enables us to maintain or lower the hairline position when necessary.
