I am almost 6 weeks post op and still worrying about capsular contracture. I massage multiple times a day and see them dropping more and more each day. When does capsular contracture actually start?
Answer: Capsular contracture risk after augmentation Thanks for your question. Congratulations on your surgery. The incidence of contracture with silicone gel implants is 6% for the life of the implant, so technically it never goes away. Placing the implant under the muscle and using an implant less than 350CC statistically further reduces this risk. Massage is definitely helpful. Don't stress though. The odds are on your side that you will be ok.Best of Luck!

Answer: Capsular contracture Thanks for your inquiry, "early" breast encapsulation occurs between the 3rd-12 month after breast augmentation. Unfortunately, there is a low rate of late encapsulation secondary to trauma, device failure, infection, etc that can last a lifetime--hope that helps and good luck.
