Answer: Losing hair at 19 You should meet with a doctor to determine the cause of your hair loss. Based on your symptoms of itchiness and baldness in the itchy areas, it sounds like you may have a form of scalp psoriasis or seborrheic dermatitis, which can cause hair loss if left untreated due to the irritation caused by scratching. You should meet with a doctor to rule this out. Specialized shampoos for dandruff reduction or scalp psoriasis can help ease symptoms of the condition. While it may seem uncommon to lose hair at 19, many men experience early signs of hair loss in teenage-hood and their early 20’s. The best way to prevent continued and further hair loss is to proactively treat hair loss symptoms at the first sight of hair loss. Medical management of symptoms such as laser therapy, medications, and topical treatments may prove beneficial in warding off future hair loss.

Answer: Why am I losing my hair? I am an 18 year old boy. michaelarroyo14, Thanks for the question. It is important to see a hair loss specialist in your area for a complete history, physical examination, dermoscopy, hair check , lab, and possible scalp biopsy. Results will permit an accurate diagnosis, hence a short and longterm treatment program to address the thinning. Sincerely, Bernardino A. Arocha, MD

Answer: Understanding Hair loss and hair loss treatment options: hair transplant, prp and progesterone This needs an in-person evaluation. I recommend getting a formal evaluation with a hair loss expert to go over your condition and advise you on best treatment options and shampoo recommendations. There are great non-invasive options like prp/progesterone and/or hair transplantation. See an expert. Best, Dr. Emer
