Developed a hematoma 6 days post Lower Face Lift, am I overreacting if I want to go in earlier then my follow-up appt? (photo)

Any time you are uncomfortable with your doctors answer, you should seek follow up earlier to at least answer your questions and allay your fears.  Although its hard to tell from your photograph, I don't really see a "large" hematoma.  Regardless of the size, these can still be needled or suction evacuated in the office if necessary.  If you feel the need to see your doctor sooner, you should make an appointment to have it rechecked.

Facelift is a surgery to improve the contours and sagging skin of the lower face and neck. A blood collection or hematoma is a risk to anyone who has a facelift procedure. We try to minimize the risk by avoiding aspirin. In surgery, the goal is to stop any bleeding before closing the skin. Despite our best efforts hematomas can still happen. Small stable hematomas may be watched, but many surgeons choose to drain it with a needle to help it heal faster. Larger, growing hematomas may need to go to the operating room.If you're uncomfortable, I would call your surgeon again to be safe. Safety comes first.

 Hi, I have performed many facelifts over the past 30 years.  You should see your Facelift Surgeon if you are concerned about your progress or healing following your facelift.  That's not unreasonable at all. These types of complications can happen with the more invasive type facelifts which is why the minimally, invasive SMAS facelift is the most popular facelift that I perform.Hope this helps and best of luck to you.

Absolutely, I would insist on visiting with my operating surgeon immediately.  Hematoma can delay healing and cause complications.
