I generally have my patients follow strict sun protection and apply a bland ointment (such as Vaniply) after I treat my patients with PDL for their port wine stains.
I would say the most important component of skin care after a pulsed dye laser treatment of a port wine stain on the face would be sun protection. I would try and get a moisturizer with an SPF of at least 30 or even 45. If you feel like you need an ointment, such as bacitracin and don't want to use it because of an allergy, I would recommend aquaphor ointment.
When treating Port Wine Stain with pulse-dye laser, I recommend intense sun protection. Use high SPF and reapply regularly throughout the day. I find that my patients do well without any ointment, but if needed Aquaphor Healing Ointment is my recommendation.
There are many brands of bland moisturisers that do not contain an antibiotic. My preferred choices are QV, vaseline, aqueous cream, or paw paw ointment. I don't usually start sunscreen until day 5, as your skin can get irritated early on. All the bestDr Davin LimLaser Dermatologist
