Can pulsed dye laser treatment remove most of the redness from my scars? (Photo)

One of the attributes of a scar that makes them noticeable is redness of the scar. Treatment with a vascular laser helps to reduce the redness. This takes at least several treatments but does help lighten the redness. The pulse dye laser and the excel v laser are two excellent lasers that help redness. They target the small blood vessels that give scars their red appearance. I prefer the excel v laser for redness of scars however both lasers are excellent.

Thanks for your your question.  You probably will have reduction in the redness of the scars with PDL.  Be patient with it, improvement does take time and several treatments.  You will also want to be consistent with sun protection of the scars.  Some of my patients also have scsr improvement using scar creams, such as Mederma, or others.  Ask your dermatologist what they recommend between treatments.
