Hi Xerian, eMatrix can be used at any point, but as with all scar treatments, results may be best when the treatment is done "early." That said, in our office we've successfully treated patients with eMatrix many years after they developed acne scarring. I would be hopeful about improving scarring even if your scars aren't early (within a year or so). Of course, you'll want to see a provider to assess and make sure you are a good candidate for the treatment.
Thank you for your question. Ematrix is very beneficial for creating new healthy skin cells and improving the texture of your skin. After your eMatrix treatment, your skin will feel like it has a sunburn. You do not need to cool your skin, but if you feel any discomfort you can apply an icepack or cool air from a fan. Your skin will have tiny pinpoint scabs starting 24-72 hours after your eMatrix treatment. This side effect is normal and lets you know your skin is healing. You can expect this to last 3-7 days as your skin repairs. Do not itch, touch or pick at your skin as this will disrupt healing. The tiny scabs will naturally shed off when they are ready. 48 hours post-treatment you must avoid any activity that will heat your body. Stay away from hot showers, saunas, massages, working out, and sun exposure. Keep your skin clean to avoid infection while it is healing.
Our Hidef Acne scar protocol combines fractional laser, subcision, fillers, sublative RF, and PRP. Best, Dr. Karamanoukian#Realself100 Surgeon
A combination approach will give the most improvement. Acne scars need a combination of lasers, microneedling/prp, Cosmelan, subcision and fillers. Co2 is the best laser for scars, but Erbium is a great alternative. It will take a series of treatments and may need some treatments to maintain. I recommend getting a formal evaluation with an acne scarring expert. Best, Dr. Emer
A combination approach is best for acne scars as there are different scar issues. Some require subcision. Other need dermal filler. Some types of acne scars can be improved with eMatrix as it is great techology. Others may need chemical peels or fractional lasers.BestHratch L Karamanoukian MD FACS
eMatrix can be used on old acne scars, however its best for early scarring. The idea is to find the BEST method for your scars. If you have old scars (white, or skin coloured, older than 3 months) and severe scars, eMatrix may not be the best solution. Can it work on scars? Yes, but the idea is to find the best method of scar correction for you. In some patients, it maybe eMatrix, in others it may be other methods as outlined below. Acne scar revision is a sub-specialised field. For the best results, one should target the acne scar type with ideal treatments and not just one device. The web reference below will take you to a resource to help you understand acne scar revision at a specialist level. I embedded all the videos in one page to help. For example deep ice pick scars, and narrow box car scars can be treated with TCA CROSS peels, mixed scars, rolling, and atrophic scars treated with fractional devices such as Fraxel, fractional lasers, PRP and INFINI radiofrequency. Atrophic scars (depressions) can be treated with either fat grafts, or with HA dermal fillers. Tethered and anchored scars are best treated with surgical techniques such as subcision. Other surgical techniques that we use include punch elevation, surgical elevation, punch excision and traditional excision of focal scars. The majority of patients will have a collection of different scar types, and hence a tailored treatment METHOD will be best. Careful examination, especially under angled lighting with scar mapping will give you an understanding of what are the best options for your scars. In the majority of patients its finding the correct combination that give you best results, and everyone is unique! All the best, Dr Davin Lim. Acne scar dermatologist specialist.
