Small mound on one side of mouth - what is it and how can I fix it? (Photos)

Question

I have a small mound that has formed next to my mouth on one side. The other side is still pretty smooth, I can't figure out if this is a beginning marionette line or start of a jowl or what—I really want to know what this is so that i can figure out how to fix it. I am hoping the solution is not a facelift, but prepared for it.

To provide an accurate diagnosis, an in-person physical examination is essential.Based on your photos, you may be a good candidate for a deep plane facelift. The small mound near your mouth could be an early sign of jowling or marionette lines, often caused by age-related volume loss and gravity pulling the deeper facial tissues downward. The deep plane facelift technique addresses not only the skin but also the underlying muscle and fat layers, restoring a more youthful and natural appearance. While surgery offers the most definitive and long-lasting result, a proper consultation would help determine if less invasive options could also be suitable depending on your goals.

Based on your one post a photo that’s a combination of skin laxity aging and subdermal fat deposit. Best of virtual consult with, but I might offer the Endo Endo laser in 2 to 3 sessions under local anesthesia. Price per session $1000. Or an interior Vertical facelift for a more aggressive treatment in combination with the end of laser that fee $10,000.

Peri Oral mounds are poorly understood, and there is no one single good treatment for them.
Usually, the first step in coming up with a surgical or medical solution is to first have a clear understanding of what the problem or ideology is.
With this condition, we just don’t have a good explanation.
It seems to have to do with how the soft tissue drape based on having certain facial skeletal characteristics.
 Those who have a strong skeletal foundation have more support for their soft tissues, and typically are not as likely to develop these issues.
There have been a providers who have described what they call successful treatment options that are both surgical and non-surgical for this condition.
I think it’s going to be difficult to get a quality improvement, but you can ask around.
I’m sure there are other plastic surgeons who know more about the condition than I do.
There are also no shortage of providers offering treatment options with greater enthusiasm, whether these are effective or not.
I would say caveat emptor is in order.
