You are correct that nodules can develop even months later after any filler. The more cross-linked HA fillers seem to have a higher incidence but at least they can be dissolved.  The precise cause is not completely understood and more studies are necessary to  help understand this phenomena. In the meantime, recommendations are for meticulous  aseptic technique, avoiding fillers in people with recent dental work (including routine cleaning) and exercising caution in people with autoimmune dz. If you have an autoimmune disease and are taking medications for it, Sculptra may not be as effective. Sculptra works through the inflammatory process that has to take place for it to work.
