Best filler when you have an autoimmune disease and take immune suppression medicine?

I heard stories about nodules developing some months later after fillers. I read it’s more likely to happen in someone like me with an autoimmune issue and taking immune suppressing medications. My doctor doing the procedure is aware of my issue. My autoimmune specialist is also aware and has approved. However, I want to make sure I use the medicine that best suits my issues. I’m now concerned about Sculptra? Ideas suggestions for treatment? Should I just wait and save up for a facelift?

In general those fillers that are only composed of hyaluronic acid are considered safer as they can be completely dissolved in case of any issues.

there is no risk with any fillers to autoimmune dissease even bellafill which is collagen based has no risk for collagen vascular disease. it is best to use a reversible filler like hyaluronic acid based fillers in this scenario in my opinion. You are correct that nodules can develop even months later after any filler. The more cross-linked HA fillers seem to have a higher incidence but at least they can be dissolved. The precise cause is not completely understood and more studies are necessary to help understand this phenomena. In the meantime, recommendations are for meticulous aseptic technique, avoiding fillers in people with recent dental work (including routine cleaning) and exercising caution in people with autoimmune dz. Some doctors are now avoiding filler treatment in all cases of known autoimmune dz. Scuptra works by stimulating inflammatory response to produce collagen which autoimmune medication will suppress. Fillers do not provide the same treatment as a facelift since they only provide volume restoration but they can help augment areas before and after a facelift. If a facelift is indicated, that may be the better option since it repositions and firms tissues and removes excess skin. It can be performed with or without fat grafting to add more volume. Even with surgery, your medications may need to be temporarily held to allow adequate wound healing. Hope this helps.

If you have an autoimmune disease and are taking medications for it, Sculptra may not be as effective. Sculptra works through the inflammatory process that has to take place for it to work. In my opinion the best way to treat the aging process of the face is with the use of the patient's own fat as that will produce natural and pretty much permanent results.
