hello rlwbc3You should visit or contact your plastic surgeon about this concern. #drainage #post-op.
Hello rlwbc3, I appreciate your questions! Having serosanguinous drainage is normal during the first week following VASER liposuction. Fluid may collect inside your body in the surgical area. This makes an infection or other complications more likely to occur. Surgical drains are typically placed in order to allow the fluid to flow out of your body. Usually, during the first 24-48 hours, large amount of blood-stained fluid (serosanguinous drainage) would come out of the drainage holes. This is a normal secretion due to the exit of the anesthetic solution with blood. It will change color from red to pink to a light yellow or clear as the wound heals and the fluid starts to go away. Each day, your drains will be checked to check the amount of drainage. Your doctor may give you specific information on when you no longer need the drain and when it will be removed, but generally these are removed between 4-7 days after surgery, when the drainage output is less than 30 mL/24 hrs. To avoid excessive bleeding you should rest quietly the first few days following VASER lipo and avoid taking aspirin, nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory medications (Advil, Motrin, Aleve, among others) and some herbal medicines that can cause increase bleeding. Refrain from strenuous activity for the first month after surgery and contact your surgeon promptly if you notice an increase in swelling, pain, redness, drainage, or bleeding in the surgical area, or if you develop fever (above 100.4 F), dizziness, nausea, or vomiting. Hope this is helpful! Dr. De La Cruz.
You should have been given proper instructions about drainage and garments/ absorbent sheets. Drainage is normal post op but you should be wearing a compression garment and have absorbent pads over the entry waysStart lymphatic massages approximately 1 week out and continue with diet and start exercising after about 14 days
after a HD VASER procedure you should have aftercare, strict instruction, double garments and start lymphatic massage therapy immediately. this doesnt sound like you got proper arter care and you should contact your physicians office immediately. Dr. Emer.
VASERLIPOSUCTION is performed with high volume of fluids in the tissues. It is normal for drainage mix of blood and fluids to drain from the puncture wounds used to performed the procedure. The drainage is usually present for the first 24 to 48 hours.
It is normal to have drainage from the puncture sites for 48-72 hours and it can be quite profuse for the first 24 hours. The drainage can look red and is usually more watery which is normal. If you are at all concerned with the drainage being more bloody than expected, do contact your doctor right away. If there are clots or it is quite thick, then definitely have it checked out. It is important to also keep the compression garment on at all times and make sure it is snug and secure. Make sure you hydrate well and take it easy (no heavy lifting or bending over).
The first night after Liposuction it is very typical to have reddish clear drainage. It is not active bleeding, but rather the natural process of the anesthesia and fluids leaving the body.Best. Dr Brecht Seattle, Wa
