Can uterine fibroids interfere with liposuction 360 or the recovery process?

I am considering a 360 liposuction. I have 2 uterine fibroids one approximately the size of an egg and the other a grape. They do cause some discomfort to my day to day life. Can they interfere with this surgical procedure or the recovery process?

The presence of uterine fibroids should not be a contraindication for liposuction.  The fibroids are internal to the abdominal wall and liposuction deals with fat outside the abdominal wall.

it is hard to tell for sure without an examination, but based on your description, your fibroids should not be a contraindication for a surgery. If you are considering a surgery, I would suggest you to consult a board-certified plastic surgeon. Only after a thorough examination you will get more information and recommendations.

PriscillaI appreciate your concern, however small fibroids such as yours, should not interfere with abdominal liposuction. If they are causing issues, such as pain on a regular basis, you should see your gynecologist. Please confirm my advice with both your gynecologist and plastic surgeon. Good luck.

Small fibroids of the uterus do not necessarily present an issue to liposuction.  Recommend that you address the fibroid issue with your gynecologist prior to scheduling the lipo and share the information with your PS.

Thanks for the question and provided information as well.
Uterine fibroids are not a contraindication for liposuction. In general, you need to be physically healthy and at a stable weight, have realistic expectations, be a non-smoker and your BMI needs to be 30 or less.
l recommend you to make an appointment with a board certified plastic surgeon to talk about your goals and anything you need to know.

Hello and thanks for the question.  360 liposuction would not interfere with the uterine fibroids or cause them to be more uncomfortable.  You will have some soreness from the surgery but your recovery time would not change based on the presence of the fibroids.  You will need to wear a compression garment after the liposuction, and I am not sure if the squeezing nature of the compression garment will cause you to have more discomfort from the fibroids.  A consultation with a board-certified plastic surgeon will help with your decision-making process.  Good luck!

Hello and thank you for your excellent question. Uterine fibroids are NOT a contraindication to liposuction, provided that you are otherwise healthy. You may want to look into a minimally invasive, quick recovery body contouring procedure. We use a combination of non-surgical, minimally invasive techniques including liposuction, laser, radiofrequency (RF), and acoustic therapy to produce the best balance of fat reduction, skin tightening and smoothing for your body type and anatomy. In many patients, we also use Emsculpt to help each patient reach his or her desired result. These procedures are typically performed in the office, with only local anesthesia. Patients literally “walk in”, and “walk out” after the procedure, do not need narcotics for pain control, and can return to light exercise and work one to two days after their procedure. In my practice, we select the appropriate treatment for each patient based on their skin quality, amount of fat and surgical goals. It is best to answer your question during a face-to-face evaluation, when you can discuss your goals and expectations for the procedure, and you can have a physical examination to evaluate you. Preoperative visualization with Crisalix can simulate what your body will look like, and can help you make your decision. I recommend that you find a board-certified, or board-eligible plastic surgeon with whom you are comfortable.
