Will ripped out hair grow back?

If you had traumatic hair loss and nothing has grown back in several months, it may never grow back.  It may take up to a year to see growth.  

You have said that your scalp hair was 'torn out' but it would be necessary to know a bit more detail to be able to answer your question more definitively. For example: Were there any wounds? Was there any bleeding or fluid oozing after the injury? Was there any skin damage?The history of thin, white hairs growing is unusual post-traumatic hair pulling and perhaps something else is going on here.I suggest you see a dermatologist who specialises in hair loss.

If your hair was lost with the follicle attar echoed then it will not grow back.  If the hair shaft was the only part of the hair that was ripped then the hair will grow back.  It is a good idea to stay on rogaine if it helps, but you may need to seek medical advise to see if you are a good candidate for hair transplant.

I had one patient who had been mugged and had his hair transplants pulled out (a fist full). After 6 months, it all returned. From this experience and other such experiences, one such episode usually regrows after 6 months or so. If you are not getting such regrow by now, you should see a hair doctor who specializes in hair transplantation such as myself of other doctors on Real Self. Rogaine will probably not work.
