Other such agents include selenium sulphide, zinc pyrithione, and ketoconazole.Minoxidil at 2 and 5% are helpful for male pattern balding, also called androgenetic alopecia. The 5% formulation was shown to be more effective for men and this resulted in it's formal FDA approval a few years after the 2% formulation was approved.
