What are some remedies for swollen vocal cords after intubation?

I had lipo 6 days ago and my voice is awful. Sometimes it fades completely out. It's getting better I think, but slowly. I coughed up some phlegm the first couple of days,but now relatively clear. Tried hot tea and even popsicles. What else can I try?

I suggest speaking to your surgeon.  Often swelling and change in hormones are common after surgery and it may be best for you to get on some diuretics and see a hormonoal doctor at this time to optimize the results.  Best, Dr. Emer.

I prescribe water pills to all my post op liposuction patients, many do not and only care about post operative compression.  I suggest going with your doctors post operative protocol and asking them directly this question.  Best, Dr. Emer.

Because of the difference in subcutaneous architecture near the umbilicus postoperative swelling can create significant firmness. This will resolve with time although will not follow the same timetable as the rest of the skin and fat of the abdomen.
