What are some remedies for swollen vocal cords after intubation?

I had lipo 6 days ago and my voice is awful. Sometimes it fades completely out. It's getting better I think, but slowly. I coughed up some phlegm the first couple of days,but now relatively clear. Tried hot tea and even popsicles. What else can I try?

I appreciate your question.You can treat with ice chips and as you would a regular sore throat.  Gargle with warm salt water.  It will clear up in a few days.

Irritation of the upper airway after general anesthesia is common though usually very modest. When symptoms are significant cooling with ice chips will be of benefit. There topical anesthetics it can be sprayed in the back of the throat. Antihistamines may help with upper airway congestion.

Sore throat after anesthesia is treated as you would any sore throat.     Over the counter throat sprays help as do ice chips and cool drinks.   Time is the biggest factor.   If soreness persists see your local doctor or ENT doctor.   My Best,  Dr C
