Is it normal to return to work right after getting Restylane silk lip filler? And when is it advisable to wear makeup again?

Thanks for your question!  Some people feel that they're able to go back to work right after lip injections.  Others take the rest of the day off.  I recommend that if you have never had lip injections before, I recommend patient's to take the next day off as you do not know how much swelling or bruising you may have.

There is really very little to no downtime with the injectable hyaluronic-acid based dermal fillers, such as Restylane, Juvederm and Belotero. You can return to work right after your treatment, if that's what you desire. You may indeed have some swelling or bruising that can last for a day to up to a week or so, but you can control this by icing the area. If you develop a bruise, we invite our patients to come back to the office as soon as the day after the injection so that we can use a pulse dye laser at no charge to accelerate the resolution of the bruise. Some fillers, like Restylane Silk, swell more than other fillers, so it is important to discuss the choice of a filler with your physician. Also, feel free to mask the bruising with makeup; you can begin using that as soon as you receive your treatment. Be sure to consult a board-certified dermatologist about your lip injections so you will have the opportunity to have all your questions answered and your augmentation performed professionally.

Great Question!  After injecting Restylane Silk, you should be able to return to work immediately.  You may have some swelling and bruising that may start the first couple days after treatment.  There are some simple things you can do when no one is watching, such as icing, but it is really up to you and how comfortable you are with going to work. I use Silk almost exclusively when I inject lips. Handles smoothly and avoids duck appearance. Highlights lip edges and appears to hydrate. The lips are very vascular and I advise to expect 1-3 days of light bruising. Not something I feel is best done over a lunch hour, unlike Botox. Makeup can be applied immediately. Icing is key. My patients receive an ice pack for 5 minutes post procedure. Also advised to apply ice pack to lips for 20 minutes out of every hour that evening. Natural result, that doesn't look overdone, usually appears when swelling has subsided. Take it easy the night following the injection. Grab a SinEcch arnica pack after the procedure, and you're basically prophylaxing against swelling from all angles. Best of luck.

I appreciate your question.Yes you can return to work right away after lip filler and also wear make up with no issues.   Swelling and bruising vary from patient to patient.  If swelling is going to occur it usually sets in 4 -6 hours post injection.

You may experience some swelling and possible bruising, but most people do not take off work.You may also wear makeup again right away. This may help cover any possible bruising following the injection as well.

Restylane lip filler injections don't require any downtime. You may have some soreness and swelling for a few days or even up to a week or more. However, that shouldn't prevent you from returning to work directly after your hyaluronic acid injections. You can also wear lipstick and other makeup. The makeup can even be used to help disguise whatever bruising you may have. A board-certified dermatologist will be able to give you recommendations to minimize the chance of bruising.
