Best method of removing newly formed dark mole on lip? (Photo)

Hello, I am 31 years old, male, and developed a new non-painful black mole on my lower lip (~2 months ago). A cosmetic derm recommended a biopsy to check it's not cancerous. I expressed that I would like to have it removed regardless for cosmetic reasons but she did not want to remove it because it could be deep. I scheduled an appt with her for the biopsy but now wondering whether I should get a second opinion -- and maybe whether it would be better to have a plastic surgeon who can minimize scarring or a dermatologist who may have more experiencing diagnosing melanoma?
