Best treatment for indentation left after laser mole removal? (Photo)

Question

Had a laser mole removal. Dermatologist wanted to get rid of all of it so he told me he went deeper than normal. I'm fine with that since it has no chance of coming back, but now I'm left with this indention. What is the best treatment to improve this? It's not super deep but it is noticeable. Thank you.

Mole removal begins with a comprehensive examination and consultation to determine the likelihood of a mole being worrisome. Excisional and incisional biopsies are reserved for suspicious moles. But it’s good news that most moles are not problematic and are only cosmetic, thus leading to the option of scarless or non-surgical mole removal with lasers and RF and plasma. Thanks for the photo. You did not say when the laser treatment was done. If it was done in the past few months, you may have some collagen formation in the next few months that will improve the appearance. If you would like to have something done more quickly, some options would be to fill this in with filler. I also like using a fractional laser to help stimulate natural collagen formation (but the results will take longer to be seen) since filler would have to be repeated periodically (like every year or so, while natural collagen lasts much longer). You could even have the fractional laser followed by the filler to help improve the appearance quickly but with the added benefit of collagen formation over time. Best wishes, Mary Beth Mudd

you can try having this corrected with fillers. if there's scar tissue contraction that is creating the indentation then fillers may not do the job.

direct surgical excision is another option that to do this correctly you will have a scar that's 3-4 times longer than the indentation. the face is pretty forgiving for scarce but is not forgiving for three-dimensional Contour irregularities. having a flat Contour with a minimally visible scar is often far better than having no scar but an indentation that throws a shadow that can be seen from across the room.
