I recommend that my patients start their professional lymphatic massages the 2nd week after surgery. This varies from patient to patient as some are still in a lot of pain and the thought of traveling to the massage place one week after surgery and allowing someone to massage your skin will not be tolerated. I see my patients one week post op and we make a decision based off how they look and how they tolerate my exam if they are ready or should wait one more week.
Hello dear!!Thanks for the question and provided information as well. The answer will depend on your doctors post operative protocol, contact him or her and ask when you should start massages. Good luck :)

hello thank you for sharing your questionthe limfaticos massages as procedures of aid in the plastic surgery has been varying with the time, doing uses of these more and more prematurely in the post surgical period, in my daily practice I recommend to initiate the lymphatic massages to the 3 rd or 4 to day post surgical in a minimum number of 10 sessions of one hour of duration and daily The most important thing is to choose a certified plastic surgeon that will guide you better on this and other questions that may arise

If there is a great deal of swelling, compression should be addressed in addition to the need for massage. If there is a considerable amount of weight gain, a small amount of a water pill can be helpful also.
I am a big fan of lymphatic massage following surgery. I in no way benefit financially as my patients are referred to independent practitioners of said arts. My patients fell better faster with a concomitant decrease in overall swelling. I consistently receive reports of increased ur...

Dear Hourglass 37, This depends a lot on the surgeon and the patient. If the patient is recovering well and has minimum pain, i start the massages 5-7 days after surgery and recommend 10-15 sessions ( 1 session daily). You will have an easier and less painful recovery this way. Best of luck!
