How long do I have to wait between Hyaluronidase treatments and how much per visit for rare Voluma infection/reaction?

Received 1cc Voluma total to the cheek area 3 weeks ago and within days I noticed something wasnt right. Dr believes I have all the symptoms of a very rare Voluma reaction due to hypersensitive immune response to foreign body causing inflammed hard nodule (likely infected but extraction was not able to draw liquid/pus), possible biofilm and infection. Augmentin/Clarithromycin 500mg 2x daily.Hylenex 50units ea cheek spaced 7 days apart is the plan. Is this enough Hylenex/frequency?Anything else?

This is difficult to answer without an in-person evaluation. I recommend following up with your injector. Usually, it is recommended to wait at least 2-3 days between injections. It can take a series. See an expert. Best, Dr. Emer

This sounds more likely a infection and the filler needs to be dissolved. I would probably inject more units but the amount needed is not exactly known. I would do about 100-150 per side. The full effect of the Hylenex takes about 3 days so the injections can be spaced nearer if needed.

Hyaluronidase dissolves most of the filler quite readily with some delayed action over approximately 48 hours.  In this case it is important to repeat the enzyme injections until the filler is no longer palpable to touch.  The dose is determined by the response, but 150 iu would not be unusual.  Follow up should occur at 48 hours and again as necessary until the problem resolves.  All the best.
