Every surgeon has a different way of using post op steristrips. I try to keep them on 3 weeks, and after removal I start other methods to help get best scar. Good luck.
Hi Yippy1595, For scars, I close all of my incisions in 5 layers and do not use absorbable sutures because they cause inflammation and worse scarring. I tape all of my incisions in the office visits once a week for six weeks after surgery to improve the appearance. After taping, I start my patients on a scar gel therapy for 3 months that they have to put on their incisions twice daily. If you are concerned, you should visit your plastic surgeon for assessment and to discuss your concerns, as different surgeons have different approaches in scar management. Your surgeon can also advice you of new innovations that can help with managing and improving the appearance of scars like lasers and other scar treatment modalities. Many different kinds of tapes available for postoperative use will stay on at least three weeks. Even showering does not affect this. I prefer to change the tape at a week to freshen things up and have my patients learn to retape the incisions every 3 to 5 days. I asked them to remove the tape prior to a shower and wash everything with soapy water, rinse it, and reapply the tape sometime later. Altogether, I have them tape the incisions for about six weeks. This has been shown to decrease scarring.
The tape is very helpful for helping scars heal well and supporting breast incisions. I keep my patients taped for 3 weeks. It is up to your surgeon how long will benefit you.
Thank you for the question.Surgical tape usually stays on for 2-4 weeks after a breast lift surgery. The purpose is to support your breast tissue while it undergoes healing. If it comes off earlier than that, contact your board certified plastic surgeon. However, different surgeons have different preferences so consult your board certified plastic surgeon for any further information.
Surgical tape usually stays on around 2-4 weeks. It is placed to support the incisions while they heal. If it comes off sooner than that, I usually ask patients to come into the office to be seen. Please talk with your surgeon about his or her preference.
Hi thank you for your question. Surgical tape helps support the wound as it heals and can minimise stretch. I recommend taping wounds after surgery for up to 4 weeks. It can be changed regularly over this time to keep it clean. If a patient becomes sensitive to the adhesive in the tape (the skin will be red and sore) it is important to stop using the tape immediately.Best wishes.
Hi Bmoson, I understand your concern and it is quite normal to be concerned about the outcome following a breast lift surgery. However, you are still in the early stages of the healing process at 3 weeks post op. Your will need to be patient at this moment and follow what your surgeon has ...

The breast lift has a longer incision recovery/healing time and this is especially true if you also have implants placed. Incisions in the breast take at least 3 weeks to be moderately healed and 6 weeks or more to be fully closed with a stable scar. Time out from work is usually 10 days or so...
