Hi! I'm getting a breast augmentation this fall and I want to go huge but my PS says I can only get 800cc's max. How big will this make me? I want to be at least a triple D or a H cup, is that a possibility? I'm a 34 C right now. Thanks!
Answer: What cup size will 800cc's of saline make me? It is very easy to be confused by a cup size measuring system. Cup sizes are only used as estimates for clothing. The cup is determined by many variables including: size of the chest, the shape of the rib cage, body build, implant type, and breast dimensions. It is very easy to be confused by this measuring system. Cup sizes are only used as estimates for clothing. Although the measuring technique for determining cup size is precise, the results of these measurements are not. Let me give you an example; weight is a very accurate measurement. However two patients that weigh 120 lbs are not likely to look alike. The same is true with two patients that have the same size implants. It is not an exact science if you are trying to figure out what breast implant size you want to obtain. For example, it will take a lot more for someone who has a 36 band to go from an A cup to a C cup than someone who wears a 32 band bra. The following are estimates: 34 Band Bra Size -175cc's to increase 1 cup size. 36 Band Bra Size-200cc's to increase 1 cup size. 38 Band Bra Size-225cc's to increase 1 cup size. The better way to choose an implant size is to try on try on sizers in the office while wearing a tight t-shirt, bathing suit or leotard. Realize that there are no standardized cup dimensions of a "D" or an "H". It varies depending on chest wall size, bra company and individual style within a company. Nor is there a direct correlation between implant shape or size and cup size. Keep in mind that following the advice from a surgeon on this or any other website who proposes to tell you what to do without examining you, physically feeling the tissue, assessing your desired outcome, taking a full medical history, and discussing the pros and cons of each operative procedure would not be in your best interest. I would suggest you find a plastic surgeon certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and ideally a member of the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS) that you trust and are comfortable with. You should discuss your concerns with that surgeon in person. Robert Singer, MD FACS La Jolla, California

Answer: Breast Implants: How Big is Big? It is very difficult to determine the exact size and shape implant you will be after 800 cc implants or what is required to best match your ideal breast image without an examination by a board certified plastic surgeon. Not just any board certified plastic surgeon, but one with many years of frequently performing breast augmentation surgery including different approaches, techniques and implant choices. This is because several measurements not to mention your breast characteristics are needed to determine the optimal implant size to obtain your goals. Without knowing these dimensions it would be difficult to make this determination. For example, the existing base width of your breast will determine, in many cases, the maximal volume per implant profile that you can accommodate. To illustrate; a 100 cc difference may make a significant difference with a narrow base width breast, but much less of a difference if you have a wide chest wall and wide breast “foot print”. Therefore, just because your friend may have a great result with let’s say a 350 cc implant to make her go from a “A” cup to a “C” cup size does not mean that you will have the same result with the same size implant. . Further simply placing implants in a bra to determine the size best for you is not always accurate as the bra often distorts the size, is dependent on the pressure the bra places plus the implant is outside your breast and not under it among other variables. Computer software morphing programs that automatically determine the best implant size can be helpful in some but not all cases (e.g. doesn’t work well in my experience with existing implants, sagging or asymmetric breasts). Using “want to be” photos however are useful if simply provided to the surgeon as I will further explain in the link below.

Answer: 800 cc implants Be careful what you wish for. My breast reduction patients, who start out at D-cups or larger, don't care what scars they get on their breasts. They are just happy to get rid of all that weight pulling through their neck and shoulders. That said, there is no formula correlating height, weight, body surface area, volume (cc's), and cup size. Different bra manufacturers have different cup sizes so where you wind up will depend a lot on where you buy your bras. Still, if you want to go as large as possible, then 800 cc's is the largest volume available through reputable, FDA-approved breast implant manufacturers.

Answer: 800cc implants, cup size Thanks for your question. Implant size and final cup size are not directly correlated - other factors will make a difference like your own breast tissue, body shape and even the bra you purchase.

Answer: Find out the cup size by trying on the bra 6 months after surgery The implants have different maximum volumes based on manufacturer and whether they are silicone or saline. The largest saline is 960 cc. The cup size you will determine after surgery by trying on bras.

Answer: 800 cc implants Very difficult to determine cup size. It depends upon a number of factors. I tell my patients not to worry so much about actual"cup size", as that can vary with bra type/band size, etc. The important thing is that you be happy with your ultimate size. Just keep in mind than the bigger the implant, the higher the risk for certain implant related complications such as thing of skin, bottoming out, rippling, etc. The above information is never meant to be a substitute for an examination and discussion with a board certified plastic surgeon.
