11days post op, im 5"6 195lbs (710cc Right Breast) (750cc left breast) high profile saline, under the arm. I've started my massages, however my right breast hurts too much when im massaging so much that I feel I'm not doing it correctly on that breast ,they are still high and hard and my right breast seems to have alot of "sideboob" and it feels like its too into my axillary which makes it hurt/burn when massaging. Is this normal? Is there anything I can do to help with my pain?
Answer: Massages after BA, some advices: Thanks for sharing your concerns with us.Its too early to talk about final results. In my practice, after performing a BA I recommend to my patients to limit the movement of the arms for two weeks. After that, you can move your arms taking care and always with common sense. In this regard, it's not advisable to carry heavy weights to prevent the implant out of position, and allow the formation of the physiological capsule around the implant, also to avoid pain and breast swelling.I do not recommend breast massage after a BA to prevent the implant dislocation, and allow the formation of the physiological capsule around the implant, and also to avoid pain and breast swelling after breast massages.Respectfully,Dr. Emmanuel Mallol Cotes.-

Answer: Massaging after Breast augmentation It is true there is no research demonstrating massaging being benificial. But to dismiss it would be extremly premature and ill advised. All physicians know that massaging or pressure on any areas of scars or fibrosis does soften the area. So one should be able to extrapolate that if the breasts are firm that massaging could possibly soften them. Now if the patient has too much discomfort when doing it they should simply wait a period of time before proceeding again. Also gentle massaging is fine. But to dismiss something that could help is not appropriate as a physician especially if it's not going to cause harm. I think when doctor perform thousands of these it becomes evident that massaging does help.

Answer: Right breast hurts so much when doing massages. Is this normal? Thank you for your question and for sharing your photographs. You will find a mixed debate on realself debating the benefit of implant displacement exercises after augmentation but I do not advocate them for patients for two reasons - there is no research to demonstrate their benefit and they can cause patients increased pain and swelling. I would discuss your pain with your surgeon so that they can provide further guidance on implant care. You are still recently out from surgery and the overall appearance of the breasts will change dramatically over the next several months, as the implants drop, and the overlying tissue stretches to accommodate the extra volume. In your case the swelling from surgery is flattening your implants and holding them high on your chest. As far as your pain, the nerves of the skin are stretched as a result of swelling and the increased volume of the implants. This stretching irritates the nerves which can cause a number of different nipple and breast skin sensations including increased/decreased sensitivity or a burning/electrical feeling. These normally resolve spontaneously given enough time. Hang in there and allow your results more time to mature but certainly keep in close contact and communication with your surgeon
