The risks of thrombotic events in liposuction while present are not significant. Thrombotic events are a risk associated with any surgery (especially those performed under general anesthesia or those associated with prolonged immobility). As always, discuss your concerns with a board certified plastic surgeon (ABPS).
liposuction and any surgery puts people at risk for blood clots no matter the type. I suggest you speak to your physician, the risk is very low with liposuction alone. Best, Dr. Emer.
The risk of blood clots with lipo under local is low regardless of technique (traditional, laser, water assisted, vaser). When these same techniques are done asleep under general anesthesia, the risk is higher. Smartlipo is traditional lipo with the addition of an extra step in which a laser is passed through the fat layer near the skin with the hope of tightening the skin a little bit faster than would occur naturally with any other technique of lipo. This additional step doesn't increase the risk of blood clots.
I do Smart Lipo under local anesthesia. Therefore, you have normal muscle tone and you are able to move during the procedure. So I don't think there is a risk of blood clots. Good luck!
Thanks for your question. Any surgical procedure carries with it a possibility for blood clots (DVT's), but anytime we can do the procedure under local anesthesia (not general anesthesia), the risks are very, very low. So, most Smartlipo is done under local anesthesia in the office and it would be rare to have that complication. Best wishes
Thank you for your question. I do smart lipo under Local anesthesia and the risk is minimal. If it is done under general anesthesia , it has same risk as traditional lipo.
Hi and welcome to our forum!Blood clots and pulmonary embolism are rare but possible events during / following liposuction. It appears to be related to the amount of fat removed, the length of the procedure, and the administration of general anesthesia. SMART lipo under local anesthesia has an extremely small risk of this complication.Seek a consultation with a board certified plastic surgeon.Best wishes...
almost all Smartlipo is done under local anesthetic with oral sedation. this makes your risk of getting a blood clot about the same as your normal activity. it is general anesthesia or spinal anesthesia etc that prevents your legs from moving and gives you the risk of a DVT.ideally see a board certified plastic surgeon for your Smartlipo.david berman md
Dear Hopeful in OH,compression garments are used in order to reduce swelling and improve healing. Every plastic surgeon has his own postoperative protocol which he recommends to his patients. I would suggest you to discuss this with your plastic surgeon.Daniel Barrett, MD Certified, American B...
Dear patient, It seems like that you are still in the early stages of post operative healing. You will need to wait a little longer to see if the swelling resolves by itself. Otherwise a study as such Ultrasound or MRI can be performed to see if there are pockets of fluid that need to be drained...
Hello, Thank you for your question. Some skin folding upon sitting is normal. The good news is that your skin will continue to tighten over time. Paying attention to your posture may also be helpful. Best wishes, Dr. Moein
As you have found, different practices divide liposuction areas differently. The idea of an area being considered "size of palm" is a bit unusual, but that is her/her prerogative. It sounds like the communication and assessment was not what you are looking for. ...
I'm sorry to read about your declining self esteem. The reason you are not seeing results is because, unfortunately, you were misguided in the appropriate surgical plan. Your surgeon should have advised getting down to an optimal BMI then proceeding with a combination of procedures such as a Tu...
Smart lipo is good for stubborn areas of fat, but lacks body contouring and shaping. For best results, I recommend a hi definition procedure like VASER liposuction, which can be performed at the same time as a tummy tuck, if there is skin laxity. I use VASER HI DEF with ThermRF and fat grafting...
