My 2nd dose of the vaccine is on a Monday. My Preop is that Tuesday and my surgery date is the following Friday. Do I need to reschedule my vaccine? Will it give me a false positive if tested? Do I need to give it 2 weeks?
Answer: My Recommendation Dear JazzieNoir, thanks for sharing your concern, there is not indications that taking the vaccine is contraindication or evidence of adverse effects, but you still need a COVID test prior surgery to get the procedure. Make sure you go on consultation with a board-certified plastic surgeon. Hope this helps and best of lucks. Dr. Luis Mejia.

Answer: Covid vaccine prior to BBL surgery Hi, thanks for your question. You should speak to your surgeon about your concerns, as he/she will have their own pre-operative guidelines that you should follow carefully. There are typically no contraindications when it comes to having your vaccine and a BBL. That said, the concern is less about what the result of the covid test might be than how you react to the vaccine itself. Basically, you want to be in perfect health before your surgery, and the vaccine could result in mild side effects, such as a low fever, fatigue, as well as mild aches and pains. I would recommend getting your vaccine a few weeks following your surgery as opposed to before to be sure that you feel as well as can be and strong for your procedure.

Answer: Preoperative protocol Dear JazziieNoir, every plastic surgeon has his own preoperative protocol which he recommends to his patients. Most plastic surgeons would recommend you to wait prior to surgery. I would suggest you to discuss this with your plastic surgeon. Answer: Vaccine and Surgery Thank you for your question. Getting the vaccine shouldn't interfere with anesthesia or the procedures. You will still have to get a covid test before surgery.

Answer: How soon after receiving the second vaccine dose can I have my BBL surgery? There is no evidence of adverse outcomes related to anesthesia and surgery in recently vaccinated patients. However, the systemic effects of recent vaccination especially with the second shot, such as fever and malaise, may be confused with similar symptoms that may arise in the post-operative period. Some guidelines recommend waiting for 1 week after receiving an inactive vaccine before having elective surgery. Your board certified plastic surgeon will know whether to postpone the BBL or not.
