Eyelid ptosis after Botox, will it change in 3 weeks time?

Drooping of the upper eyelid after Botox is fortunately rare in the hands of an experienced injector. It relates to the level of injection or plane of injection and the amount. It occurs commonly with injections in the central forehead and more commonly when the injection is not deep enough in the glabella. The more Botox you inject the more risk of it effecting the eyelid. When it is injected in a superficial plane, it can run down to the levator muscle and paralyze that muscle leading to drooping or ptosis. The good news is, that it is short lived and will gradually improve. The drops will help stimulate the other muscles involved in the eyelid to help compensate for the ptosis. 

Maximal Botox effect will occur approximately 10-14 days after injection. This means your ptosis will likely worsen before it gets better. Keep putting the eye drops in, and it will take 3-4 months to completely resolve. 
The Botox likely migrated into your eyelid because it was injected to closely to your eyelid muscles. This is unfortunate and oftentimes avoidable with careful planning and an anatomic analysis.

Good questions and very sorry to hear you had this experience. It all depends on the actual spot where the botox was injected. Usually it is a spill over effect of the botox while doing the glabellar area and in that case in 3 weeks it should wear off. Now if the botox is actually injected into the muscle that lifts the upper eyelid then it can take little longer. In my experience its mostly a spill over effect and will wear off faster than the botox in actual glabellar area. 

Thank you for your question.The ptosis can last as long as it take the Botox to wear off. The Botox is causing the eyelid to droop and until it goes away, the ptosis can remain.  In some cases adding some Botox in another area may help improve it, I would discuss this with your injector.

It usually can resolve in several weeks, but can take up to 3-4 months to resolve. Iopidine eye drops, venus legacy and thermage treatments can give improvement. See an expert. Best, Dr. Emer

Some people do see improvement in eyelid ptosis by a few weeks after getting BOTOX®. Others will see improvement as the effects of BOTOX® fade over the following few months. The eye drops you're using should help, but unfortunately there's no real solution for this side effect outside of trying to be patient and wait for improvement. Best of luck to you.

in general the secondary eyelid drooping after Botox injection wears off after 2-3 weeks. It is due to small dopage of Botox out of its area of injection and usually is too little to make a lasting effect

Ptosis from Botox occurs because the injection fluid flows down through the fascial tissues from the glabella to the eyelid, and paralyzes the muscle.  Because the fluid is diluted as it does this, the effect does not last as long as the full botox effect, and ptosis usually improves over 3-4 weeks.  

Lid ptosis may occur after Botox glabella injections. While your eye drops will improve the ptosis they may not completely correct it. It will resolve as the Botox effects wear off which on average is 3-4  months for most patients. I am not aware of any studies that have evaluated the 3 week period as a predictor of fast resolution.
