Painful red incisions, 1month+ post breast lift without implant. Cellulitis? (Photo)

I am 5 weeks post breast lift and my incisions are painful, hard and red. This is on BOTH breasts. Does this look like cellulitis? I will see my surgeon layer this week for a routine check up. I was just wondering if I need to get an appointment sooner or if this is part of a normal healing progression? I have had this for about 2 weeks along with occasional shooting pain.

Generally after a breast lift you will notice the shape change for at least 6 months, and scars fade for a year or longer.

Thanks for your question.  After a breast lift your breast shape will change for 6 months or longer, as the swelling resolves, the scars soften and the skin relaxes.  A secondary procedure could be considered in the future if you don't feel that enough of a difference was achieved.

Would OHIP cover a breast lift for me?

Thanks for this question.Unfortunately OHIP does not cover breast lifts for weight loss. If you still have large breasts and have neck and back pain, then you could see a Plastic Surgeon for a breast reduction. These are frequently covered by OHIP. A breast lift is part of the breast reduction...

Thanks for your question.  Some patients will finance their operation over several years, but others prefer to delay surgery then pay for the operation outright, to avoid interest charges.
