If I gain weight after lipo, will the fat appear in lumps?

 In the wake of substantial weight gain after liposuction fat will appear in treated or untreated areas. It will not be lumpy.

Liposuction is not advised for weight loss, it is a surgery meant to sculpt and contour the body. At our practice we always advise our patients to be at their ideal weight when undergoing liposuction surgery. This will help to alleviate weight fluctuations after the surgery. When you do gain weight post liposuction, typically the fat cells will accumulate in a different site than where the liposuction was preformed. There have been cases of patients gaining weight  post surgery and noticing  fat in  places that it was never before,  i.e.;  arms, above the knees and mid-back. Regarding your concern for "Lumps" from post surgery weight gain, in my practice I have never had any reports from our patients or my colleagues  with this issue. However, to alleviate the risk of undesired weight gain distribution, have a healthy diet and exercise program in place before undergoing liposuction.
