I had Botox for the first time, zero effect at 7 days. Does that mean I'm unlikely to see anything happen from now?

I always tell my patients to wait a full 10 days to see the results of any Botox injections. I find that most patients need a minimum of 20 units to the glabella to see significant improvement in that area.  Some patients will require 30 or even 40 units to that area for total cessation of movement. All the best,

Thank you for your question. I agree that you need to wait two weeks to determine how much effect you get from your first Botox injections. If you are not satisfied with your results at that point, schedule a follow-up with your injector to see if additional Botox needs to be administered at this time. It is not unusual for injectors to use minimal amounts on new patients and then do a “top off” two weeks later to achieve an optimal outcome.

Thank you for sharing your question.  For most patients results can start to be seen or felt 3-5 days after treatment with full effects by 7 days.  Unusual to not have any improvement at 7 days but wait another week and then revisit your injector to discuss results.  

Dear Considerate774, Thank you for your question. Although you may need a touch up dose of botox, it is important to wait the 2 weeks for the final result. It is almost always better to be conservative the first time around as you can always add more. I suggest following up with your skilled licensed injector. Best of luck to you!

Botox results take up to 1-2 weeks and last up to 3-4 months in new areas of treatment. I recommend getting a formal evaluation with a cosmetic dermatologist. Dr. Emer

Although 15 units may seem like a great deal of Botox, depending on your particular anatomy it is actually on the lower end of the spectrum in terms of dosing for glabella lines.  If you have very heavy corrugator and procerus muscles you may require more Botox.  Also, if it is your first time getting Botox, your provider may have not explained to you that Botox will help with decreasing movement between your eyes however, Botox will not get rid of deep wrinkles between your eyes if they are already there.  Wait another week and follow up with your injector.  If they are reputable they should be able to get the results you are looking to achieve.

I would suggest waiting 2 full weeks.  Then see your injector if you do not see results.  With 15 units, you should definitely see at least some effect by 2 weeks.

Typically patients do start to see some effect from the Botox within a week, but it can take two weeks for the final results.  If after that time you still have not noticed an improvement return to your injector for an evaluation.

Thank you for your message! Botox truly takes a full 10-14 days to fully kick in. 15 units between the brows may not have been enough to give you a full hold, that being said, I would wait the full 14 days and then follow up with your injector to see if you need more!
