It can take up to six months to see the full retraction of the arm. If however the skin is not retracting well then you may need either a tightening procedure such as Thermage, or an actual arm lift but you will need to discuss with a board-certified plastic surgeon the type of scar you could expect with this procedure as it can be quite visible. There may be more improvement than you realize and you should compare the amount of hanging skin and fat today with the preop photographs.
If you are 3 months out and not seeing results, it is unlikely that you will. My patients can see immediate results, if they were a good candidate for the surgery. The results should be very visible by 6 weeks post op. Sorry.
Arm liposuction is difficult as there is little fat to contour, and skin elasticity issues are often a confounding factor. Surgeons know this and should temper expectations. Best of luck, peterejohnsonmd
If you had arm liposuction three months ago and have not seen any result, I would go back to your doctor and review your pre-op photos with how you look now.
Hi. 1) You will see the final result four months after liposuction. 2) There are several possible explanations for your disappointment .Perhaps you were not a good candidate. If the main problem in your arms is loose skin, then liposuction alone will not help much. It may not have been done right. Most of the arm fat is in the back of the arms, and this is the area that has to be targeted for treatment. 3) We have learned that women tend to be very happy even with subtle improvement in the arms. This is certainly not true for other areas ( like the thighs ), where women expect dramatic improvement. 4) You may benefit by a revision in several months.
Dear liposad, It does, in fact, take a long time to see the final results from a liposuction. In my experience, it's about 4-6 weeks for 80% of the result, 3 months for 95% and 6 months for all of it. Those are guidelines, some people see results sooner, some longer. That...
The fullness in the armpit area may well be fat, but may represent accessory breast tissue. In some women, "extra" breast tissue can be located outside the breast itself and appear in the axilla. The insurance question is always a tough one. I have had some patients...
Compression garments type and when applied varies from plastic surgeon to plastic surgeon and not dependent usually on the type of lipo performed. In my practice, A compression garment placed in surgery immediately after liposuction (steristrip protects the sutures) is recommended and...
