I had thigh liposuction back in mid April. I am now 6 weeks post-op and I still have bruising. Is this normal? Or is there something that I can do to help it go away? I am ready to wear shorts but don't want these huge bruises showing. I am still wearing my compression garment or spanx 24/7 so maybe I need to ease up on that and let them blood flow a little more?? Any advice is appreciated.
Answer: Post Liposuction Irregularities, Swelling -- Try Massage, Velashape or Venus Legacy With Your Compression Typically bruising is gone by a few weeks however, if you are concerned I suggest you speak to your physician. Venus legacy and z wave treatments, lymphatic massage can help. Best, Dr. Emer.

Answer: Should bruising after thigh Lipo last longer than 6 weeks? Thank you for your question. I would recommend to see your physician for evaluation. It is not common to have bruising still at this part of healing phase.

Answer: Bruising after liposuction Thanks for your question. You should have your surgeon take a look. This is not common at 6 weeks after liposuction. I would continue with mild compression, exercise, massage, and a healthy diet. It could be there is another explanation for new bruising? Best wishes.

Answer: Bruising after six weeks Bruising is usually resolves it by 2 to 3 weeks after liposuction but can last longer.Bruising is the body's response to the breakdown of red blood cells left into shoes after surgery or injury.some bleeding is always encountered with liposuction. The procedure is done as a "blind procedure"meaning that we don't actually see or have axis to where the surgery is being done only the small openings that the cannula's are put in through. There are a few factors that can influence or minimize bleeding during liposuction.By far the most important of these is the meticulous use of tumescent solution.this is a dilute numbing medicine that is put through the fatty tissues regardless of what type of liposuction is being formed including liposuction done under general anesthesia. Not all plastic surgeons put the solution in the fat but it is considered best practice.for patients having liposuction awake the meticulous use if tumescent solution is mandatory to minimize pain during the procedure.this solution also contains a medication called epinephrine.Epinephrine causes blood vessels to tightly constricts temporarily during the procedure. This drastically decrease bleeding, postoperative bruising and blood loss from the procedure.if the surgeon is not meticulous or plays the correct amount of the solution to chance of having increased bleeding goes up.It's also important to wait 10 to 20 minutes before starting a liposuction after the solution has been placed in the fatty tissues that are being removed.since patients do not feel the procedure under General Anastasia some surgeons but less emphasis on the step when using general Anastasia.Since bruising is really a direct response to intraoperative bleeding anything that causes more bleeding during liposuction will leave the patients more bruised and bruised for a longer period of time.aggressive liposuction or liposuction done with larger cannulas can also lead to more bleeding and hands postoperative bruising.most of the time it's more random than anything else.Patients who may have taken any blood thinning type medication like ibuprofen or aspirin within A few days before the procedure are also at higher risk for having intraoperative bleeding leaving them bruised for a longer period of time.Red blood cells contain hemoglobin.Hemoglobin is slowly broken down through a series of chemical reactions. The final breakdown products of hemoglobin is bile.during this process the various breakdown molecules from hemoglobin are highly pigmented and cause the discoloration seen as bruising. The good news is that all bruising will with enough time clear up.It can simply take a long time.Bruising tends to be more visible in fair skinned people.Follow up with your plastic surgeon to have him or her address your concerns.Patients with substantial amount of bruising may feel the treated area's feelings firm and at times tender for longer than others. The final results should not be affected.I don't personally believe the compression garment will have any influence or affect on bruising or your long-term results at this point.please check with your plastic surgeon in regards to the use of compression garmentsBest,Mats Hagstrom M.D.
