Hi Ictus, Great question! I nearly always treat my Profound patients on their forehead and around their eyes. Profound RF can be safely and effectively used on the forehead and around the eyes for better facial rejuvenation, though the majority of physicians do not perform the treatment in these areas. As a facial plastic surgeon I am very comfortable using tumescent local anesthesia (the same type of facial injection of local anesthesia that is used during face, neck, and brow lifts) which is necessary to treat these areas. The anatomy of the forehead and underlying skull bone requires tumescent infiltration of local anesthesia so that the dermal micro-needles which penetrate 1 to 2 millimeters beneath the skin do not hit bone and are damaged. The company that manufactures Profound, Syneron, does not encourage treatment of the forehead or eye area as it requires advanced local anesthetic techniques that non-facial plastic surgeons may be uncomfortable administering. Once again, as a facial plastic surgeon I am fully comfortable treating these difficult areas safely and effectively. By treating a greater surface area, the results of Profound rejuvenation are more pronounced. It takes more time, skill, knowledge, and experience to treat the forehead and eye region, but it is worth the effort. As with any aesthetic procedure please be sure to choose your treating physician carefully based on their skill, knowledge, experience, and most importantly their natural artistic vision. Good luck and be well. Dr. P
