What dermal filler procedure would be best for to fill a chicken pox scar on the nose? (Photos)

Question

I had chicken pox when I was 1 year old and it left a scar on the top left side of my nose. It is a fairly deep scar that causes my nose to look asymmetrical. What would be the best treatment to fill this scar and would it be a dangerous procedure to have considering it is on my nose? What is an average cost for a procedure like this? Thanks.

Dear WD2017,I would certainly have to examine you but
in general, treating scars takes a comprehensive approach.
There are a variety of ways to treat the
scars .  A good first step is relatively inexpensive is a peel or series of peels.
The next step up would be laser
resurfacing such as fraxel. Even with laser, some of the chicken pox scars still subsist and remain. I've found in my practice that local
subscision, using a needle to elevate the scar followed by fat grafting gives

Thank you for this challenging question.  The question presumes that a filler is the best way to handle this scar; as I see it, which filler is used is less important than that the filer is not wasted.  Filler is, at best, temporary .  Surgical subscission, with or without scar revision,  may be superior in many cases, and is a "final answer" in some of those cases.  A qualified surgeon should be consulted, and more than one opinion should be sought, before embarking on this task.

You certainly can add Juvederm voluma to the scar to make it less deep but it will not go away completely. Another option is actually removing the scar surgically, there is an incision but when it heals it will be hard to see. We have a special technique to provide skin laxity and stretch in order to remove the scar and close it perfectly under no tension. There are many ways to approach this. You will need to be examined by an experienced provider.  Oftentimes laser resurfacing and dermal fillers can be used to treat this.  Bellafill is a dermal filler that is specifically indicated for scars.

The best filler, in my opinion would be Voluma. This dermal filler would last two years and would make the scar less noticeable. The other fillers such as Juverderm, Restylane will last around a year. Using filler for the chicken pox scar would allow you to return to your normal activities the same day and there after without any downtime.
