Home Doctor came and gave me antibiotics for infected mouth. It’s call amoxicillin. Is this ok to take leading up to a BA ?

Yes, you need to take the full course of antibiotics before surgery. Make sure you tell your plastic surgeon you have an active infection that is being treated with antibiotics. Having an active infection can cause severe healing complications postoperatively. Keeping open communication with your surgeon will help ensure the best results long term.Best of luck.

Hi and thank you for your question!  Yes you can absolutely take antibiotics before a breast augmentation.  You and your doctors (including your surgeon) have to make certain that your infection is cleared before proceeding with breast augmentation as an active infection during surgery may increase the risk of an implant infection.  The amount of time to wait before proceeding with breast augmentation varies by surgeon so I would definitely keep your surgeon in the loop with what is going on and how you are doing.  Best of luck!

I appreciate your question and understand your concerns. Fortunately, amoxicillin is completely safe to take prior to a procedure like breast augmentation. In fact, it would be much riskier to have your surgery with an active infection present in your mouth. Be sure to take your antibiotics as directed and let your plastic surgeon know you were prescribed the medication prior to surgery. Your surgeon will likely want to know that your infection is no longer active before your breast augmentation takes place. Good luck on a safe and successful surgery!
