Filler between brows - safe or not?

I have been getting botox or dysport for 10+ years but it has stopped working between my brows. My doctor - Double Board Certified Facial Plastic Surgeon- said we could do filler so I googled & was shocked to see the warnings about using filler in this area. Is it dangerous or is it something that a competent doctor can do with little risk?

You are both correct!  It can be injected and the injection needs to be performed very carefully as there are a great deal of vascular connections that can lead to blindness if overly aggressive and improperly placed filler is injected into this area.

Dermal fillers can be used to soften the lines between the brows.  This is a very complicated area to inject and should only be done by an experienced and well trained provider.

Placing fillers into the eyebrow furrows is a very safe procedure. Most of the complications you hear about occur because the doctors who administer these fillers simply do not know the anatomy of the facial blood vessel position and I really not qualified to do it. Just because someone is a physician does not make them qualified. A knowledgeable plastic surgeon knows exactly at what depth the needle needs to go in order to be safe. The glabella and surrounding areas are among the most dangerous areas to inject. However, an expert who understands the anatomy can inject this area quite safely. I do it all the time and have never had a problem. This doesn't mean that a complication can't happen, but the risk is minimal in expert hands. Fillers are indicated if you still have a line or indentation at rest or after Botox.
