Dear tommy140,it is hard to tell for sure without an examination. If you are considering surgery, I would suggest you consult a board-certified plastic surgeon. Only after a thorough examination, you will get more information and recommendations.Daniel Barrett, MDCertified, American Board of Plastic SurgeryMember, American Society of Plastic SurgeryMember, American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery
Hello. Great question. Liposuction is primarily used to remove excessive deposits of fat. It is not ideally to get it performed for skin elasticity. A mini tummy tuck involves removal of a small amount of skin and fat below the belly button that addresses only the lower portion of the abdomen. No plication or muscle tightening is performed and belly button remains attached and unchanged. This procedure applies to very few patients and is appropriate only for patients who have loose skin at the inferior aspect, or bottom, of the abdomen. If patients have loose skin above the belly button or muscle laxity, a full tummy tuck would be more appropriate. Consult with a board certified plastic surgeon for a detailed surgical plan to achieve your desired results.
To most accurately answer your question would require an examination. Based on your photos, however, revisonal liposuction done carefully may improve the overall appearance. Skin irregularities are a potential complication of aggressive liposuction and can be quite difficult to correct . Older patients with inelastic skin are at much greater risk to develope the problem. If there is significant skin laxity still present, revisional abdominoplasty may be required . Discuss your results with your surgeon to see what option may be of greatest benefit.
I think it is reasonable to undergo additional liposculpting of your abdomen. In the right hands, this will achieve a slimmer tummy. I would consider the addition of subdermal tissue tightening (Renuvion powered by Jplasma) to enhance the outcome. Lastly, removing additional skin from your lower abdomen will be the icing on the cake.
Liposuction may help with that thicker fatty layer. As you already have a scar, it may also be feasible to remove a little bit more skin to encourage a smoother contour.
I encourage you to visit with a board certified plastic surgeon near you for an evaluation. It appears you would benefit from a revision to the tummy tuck and should include muscle repair. If there is muscle separation or excess skin above the belly button a full tummy tuck would be advised vs. a mini. I've included a video I hope you find helpful.
You appear to have gained weight since your liposuction, and liposuction could be repeated to help remove the excess fat.
Thank you for your photos. I do find that a mini-tummy tuck using an previous scar can help fix the lumps and bumps after previous liposuction or tummy tucks. The mini-tummy tuck will help address the contour irregularities of the area below the belly button only as well as the extra skin. At the same time, the old scar can be revised or replaced with a lower or nicer one. Hope this helps!Johnson C. Lee, MDBoard-Certified Plastic Surgeon

It is best to have the infection completely resolved and the antibiotic course complete before proceeding with your surgery. Your surgeon will be the one to make the final call whether or not your surgery needs to be postponed.
