I had a consult for new breast implants . Mine had ruptured and I was looking at the mentor extra and my surgeon recommended mentor boost. I went fuller breast with a soft feel. Also I want a strong implant wold I be ok with he extra . I'm afraid the mentor boost may give me too much of a fake look.
Answer: Mentor implants are not the best bet I agree, Mentor implants are too overfilled. Optimum filling is an important design for a modern implant, but we've learned from overfilling saline implants that too much is not better. The Mentor Xtra is even more overfilled, and has resting wrinkles along its outer perimeter when sitting on the table top. The other two companies, Natrelle and Motiva, offer optimum fill. The biggest issue thought is shell thickness. Neither of the two legacy companies, Mentor or Natrelle, have made changes to their shell design or formulation in over 30 years. Mentor's is thin, Natrelle's is thicker. Implant rupture rates vary depending on the study, but consistently show that Mentor implants have higher rupture rates at ten years, sometimes as high as 13%. Natrelle enjoys much lower rates, but their thick shell also transmits wrinkles to the skin more. Finally, Motiva offers the best of both worlds, with shell thickness and elasticity that minimizes wrinkles and low rupture rates (commensurate with Natrelle), in addition to a novel microtexture that minimizes capsular contracture. My recommendation is either Natrelle or Motiva, each with multiple options of gel cohesivity and profiles.

Answer: Implant type Dear bina25, breast implant type and sizing selection is a complicated process and requires a detailed consultation that includes a discussion of your goals, a detailed examination, and a lengthy discussion. But the decision will always start and end with the patient. When it comes to sizing, we have all of our patients find 3 photos of their desired breast size. We ask for naked breast photos because clothing can obscure the true size (push up bras). Next, we consult with patients and go over the photos and take detailed breast measurements during a physical exam. Next, we using a sizing algorithm to determine a range of implants that will work based on the exam and the measurements.Lastly, during the operation, we use silicone sizers in the operating room to see how the size actually looks in the breast. We sit the patient up in the operating room, while asleep of course, and compare the sizer result with their desired look photos. If it is too small, we start the process over with a slightly larger implant. We don't stop until we get the perfect match.Of all of my breast augmentation patients, every one of them has been happy with their size due to this detailed and meticulous process. You don't want to invest time and money into a result that is either too big or too small. You should discuss your concerns with a board-certified plastic surgeon and make sure that your surgeon understands your goals. Answer: Breast Fullness with Naturally Soft Cosistency The fullness you want can be confirmed before surgery with sizers and 3D Canfield simulation of your result with different sizes and profiles. Your softness depends on implant volume and positioning, your skin thickness, and the volume and consistency of your native breast tissue which rests atop the implants. Don't forget about Motiva implants, recently FDA approved, naturally soft, and favorable safety record with low rates of contracture. Also, if you had a ruptured device, your surgeon should smooth any costochondral projections that may inflict a secondary rupture.
