Hifu stands for High Intensity Focused Ultrasound which is what is used in ultherapy devices. Usually a combination approach is needed for skin tightening. Ultherapy is a great treatment, but works best in combination with other treatments like lasers, RF treatments, microneedling/PRP or sculptra to get increased collagen, tightening and improve skin tone. Thanks for your question – HIFU is high intensity focused ultrasound – sort of the generic name for devices like the Ulthera and what we call the treatment Ultherapy. Outside the USA, there are other HIFU devices and some of these may make it into the USA, but right now, Ulthera and Ultherapy is all the HIFU we have.
