Does composite resin bonding last long if it's bonded to the bottom of your front teeth?

Composite bonding is often a good first choice because it is less expensive than other options and can be done in one visit. It doesn't work in every situation however. If the bonding is constantly subjected to high biting force, like on the edge of an incisor or canine, it may wear away. Composite bonding isn't quite as durable as porcelain, so it will probably need to be redone eventually, but you may get the result you want with less expense. If you don't like the bonding, you can always do porcelain veneers or crowns later.

Hi:Bonding at the edge of the teeth does not last long mainly because of the biting pressure on the edge of the teeth.  For more accurate advice please post photos of the teeth that needs bonding.Best,Dr. Maddahi

Dear gigiandcami, Bonding is a term that references acrylic plastic filled with porcelain powders. There are different types of bonding materials, but essentially they can be divided into two general categories - ones that resist wear and the others that hold a great polish. The new nanohybrids are intended to provide both, but their shine doesn't seem to last more than a few weeks which might not be important when it comes to bottom teeth. Bottom teeth provide an important function against the backs of the upper teeth, and for that reason can experience significant forces; so when bonding lower teeth use the most durable materials and don't be surprised by occasional breakage.

Withpout any pictures I am uncertain because every case is different, but what I can say is that if the case is in ideal condition for composite resin, doing incisal borders of teeth is a perfectly good option that could last the same time any other composite restoration could, if done with the correct protocol and treated with care. The most important aspect is to check if your bite has any interference with this area, because if it does, this is what most likely might break the restoration.
