Would I be a good candidate for dental bonding on my front two teeth for discoloration? (Photos)

Question

My front two teeth have had enamel loss for years now and have a yellow color to them. I was wondering if I would be a good candidate for bonding on my front two teeth to help with the color. Thanks in advance.

Dental bonding can definitely improve the color and shape. However depending on your bite, you might get chipping, or discoloration. Looking at the rest of your teeth, it will be a hard color to match for only 2 teeth to the rest of your teeth, since your teeth does show hypocalcification. My suggestion see an expert cosmetic dentist near you!
You might want to do more teeth for matching color and uniformity, and possibly entertain veneers.

codyj8,From what I can tell in the photos it appears as though your front teeth are more discolored than the rest.  It is hard to know exactly if you are a candidate because looking at your xrays as well as your bite and how your teeth function is an important consideration before jumping into composite bonding.  However, you may be.  Consider the pros and cons of bonding to veneers or porcelain restorations carefully.  Most of my adult patients have concerns about longevity and porcelain is going to last longer than composite.  On the other side of the coin, composite bonding can be more cost effective and less time consuming.  All the Best,

You are definitely a good canidate for bonding, however over time the bonding will discolor.  Porcelain veneer would be the best long term option.

Dear codyj8, The short answer to your question is that your teeth can be bonded for dramatically better immediate results. However bear in mind that bonding attaches best to enamel and not so well to dentin. Also remember that bonding will wear and discolor with time, never looking better than the day it was placed. For long lasting results find a way to afford porcelain veneers. The initial cost is greater, but the results are long lasting.
