6 weeks post tumescent liposuction, am I still swollen? (Photos)

So it's been 6 weeks. Is there a difference???? I feel like I see a difference in pictures but not when I see myself in the mirror. I think I'm still swollen, some days more than others.... there's a line of my underwear, is that normal??? will I see more improvement or this is it ? I'm kind of disappointed to be honest.

Hello. Great question. Congratulations on your procedure. At 6 weeks there is still swelling present. It can take 3-6 months for all the swelling to go down. A personal examination is needed to properly determine if there is no fluid collection present. Keep following your surgeon's post op instructions.

Yes, it is too soon to tell what your final results will be. You have swelling, which can last 3-6 months after your procedure. I recommend adding hyperbaric oxygen and lymphatic massage along with your compression to help decrease swelling. To improve your final results, I also recommend adding vanquish for further fat removal, exilis/venus legacy for skin tightening, cellutone/z wave to make the skin smooth, remove scar tissue, and improve the skin’s appearance. Yes, there is a difference, but you still have a fair amount of swelling. Please continue wearing your garments and massaging the area. It will take time for you to heal. Please discuss any concerns you have with your doctor.

Swelling after liposuction can last several months and final results are not apparent until 8-12 months, with some plateauing happening in many patients around 6 months. Lymphatic massage may be helpful, though I find it most useful in the first few weeks. You may have incomplete skin retraction which leads to some rippling and skin bulging in the lower abdomen. If this does not resolve in time, you can consider a mini-tummy tuck to remove the irregular skin and get a smoother result.

Hello and thanks for your questions and photos.  You are definitely still quite swollen - at 6 weeks post, I tell my patients that 50-60% of the swelling is resolved.  The remaining 40-50% of the swelling will resolve over the next 4.5 months.  After reviewing you photos, you have a noticeable change in contour that will certainly continue to improve as the swelling decreases.
